Good video gamey feel

And good job with the equalizing. However overall it was a bit random at times, and by that I mean the melody jumped around a bit and I believe it even changed keys at one point. Good job though, it just needed a bit more structure for my tastes.

Yeah, you're completely right about that. A sytrus synth of mine was set in the wrong pitch and played in A Major :\. Thanks for the review! :)

Really nice

A really nice sounding song, but it doesn't stand out so no 10/10, sorry. Fantastic job though. Levels sound utterly perfect and fantastic composing, but like I said, it sounds like a lot of other dance songs. Great job though, you are very skilled at making badass club beats like this.

giving me a 9 =).

Really appreciate the review!!!

Thanks so much!

Cool!

I like it dude it reminds me of Sonic. Has a real retro Sega feel to it. I think it sounds fantastic. As far as whether it should be a loop or a song, I would say either a longer loop, or perhaps then just make it a song, cus it's pretty damn epic.

Manhart responds:

Alright thanks for the review and great score !
I will try and make it longer :)

Be careful...

Using Slayer can be interesting when used well. I think you are going in the right direction, however, I would suggest using a multiband compressor, a filter, and maybe some other effects over Slayer so that the guitar doesn't sound so bland. Also, some lead riffs would be nice. I'm currently working on a Slayer jam myself, it's no where near completion yet buy check it out if you would like.

Sawdust responds:

alright, i'll make some adjustments, thanks for the insight.

told you i was gonna do copy and paste it

I love this song as I said before and it is a really powerful song, and your mix of it is fantastic, but I always felt like it was about to build up to something epically sexy, but it never got to that point i wanted it too, like I love the arp that comes in at 127ish or so but I really expected it to explode after that and it didnt not that that is bad at all just my sense of style

but definitely a monumental improvement over an already good song

Psy-nigma responds:

originally I wanted this to be a breakbeat trance song. the first 6 months of working on it I was trying to do some really fancy techniques like stutter stopgo and almost like turntabling the track. Didn't come out to good but after a while I realized this song just needs to chill out.

Thanks for the review I am Glad you thought this song was a Monumental Improvement!

ooooh

I like...something quite different from you again its a quiet but powerful piece...def great background music like you said. Very enigmatic. Another very differently feeling song, I loved the off color notes that would play every now and then and how the drum track would go offbeat shortly, but it never sounded random. Very interesting work again!

Psy-nigma responds:

Hey thanks! I am glad you liked the song and its subtle complexities. As usual I do have my random moments (secretly they really are not that random they do have reasoning and follow patterns that are more complex). I plan to come out with more music like this, this year since I enjoy making ambient chill stuff. More than I enjoy making dance and drum n bass (actually I find dance to be boring).

See ya around!

hmm...

nice song...I'm usually a fan of harder music, but this is pretty catchy...loved the lead guitar and I loved the flange on the rhythm guitar. I got to say I'm not a big fan of the reverb on the singers voice, she does have a good voice though so its just the effect that bothered me. I have to agree that the drums seem a little low, as well as the rhythm guitar whenever the lead came in. And compared the the rest of the kit, the hit hat came through much louder than the rest. Good song, just needs some work on the production value. Did you guys record this yourself or did you shell out the extra bucks and go to a studio because this is decent quality if you recorded on your own but if you went to a studio you may want to look elsewhere because the levels are wack at times.

oh just noticed...I picked up on when you were hitting the ride, but it is extremely faint...I know theres nothing you can do now just pointing it out, but anyway good song keep it up!

Daniel-M responds:

Thanks for your comments, i agree with what you are saying about the volume levels and the ride being too faint, you have to listen really carefully to hear it.

we recorded it for free (i think lmfao) as part of A music project, which had a bunch of bands come together and get to record a song, which was then put on a cd.

We are hoping to record more songs with the guy sometime either next year or before the end of the year. I'm sure more care will be taken for the mixing of an actual EP/LP whatever than just this one song.

Once again thanks for the review! :)

ok now that I hear the drums

prob a little better without the drums...but I do like the woodblock...I dunno maybe its just me...I feel like I want drums, and not that the drums were bad here, they just didn't fit exactly, they were interested and gave the song a whole different feel, but I really digged the whole mellowy chillness of the original so sorry for recommending drums the first time. still love the song though.

ShinyArmor responds:

its ok... with the drums is nice ( i think)

but you said the drums gave you a different feel to this song, this is how i imagine it. this is the fell for me with or without drums (or any change)

if there is somthing else you like tell me :!D

Ok so here are my recomendations

first I just want to say this reminds me of a piece from some video game I used to play, can't remember what it's called, but it was an rpg and it sounds similar to the walking music played in it. The song has a wimsical feel to it which is different. I like the pipe sounds and bell sounds you used, but, and correct me if I am wrong, these are FL presets. I would recommend finding some good VSTi's. There are some nice ones out there that have some great sounds and offer a lot of room for modification. DSK vsti's are free and work nice, but they do take up a lot of CPU which may cause FL to lag a little. But check around for sure. I also think a little drum track would be nice here. FL studio has some ok drum sounds, but there are other plugins out there that are much better, such as VECS for example. But for this sound I'd say just mess around with the FL drums because VECS drums tend to be really biased towards the trance sound. As far as the electric keyboard goes, I'm indifferent about it. There are better keys out there, but it sounds good with what you have going. From the sounds of this song it seems like you have some skill in writing, it's just about getting use to the program. But like I said, some nice chill drums, eighth note taps on a closed high hat maybe with a kick at the beggining of the measure and 3/4 of the way in. I dunno mess around with it. Good job and keep it up.

ShinyArmor responds:

ok i'll put the drums in..... i'll use fpc in fl... so VSTi's plugin huh....

by tomorow i will have it up because i have to go out now....
ok then Happy Halloween
oh! and if you want check out my song " The Hungry Dance"

so see ya!
