Pretty sweet song!

On top of some really melancholy and haunting melodies, you definitely mastered the shit out of this. What did you use to master this?

Pretty cool man!

Definitely an interesting tune. Very industrial! It reminds me of Trent Rezner's stuff a lot. I could definitely see this as an intro to where it would build up to into and jump into bigger and louder drums. Like after this using samples from live drums. I could also here some guitar coming in when the song kicks in full gear. What I liked about this most was the fact that it was in an odd tuning. Was that in a 9/4 tuning? It through me off at first, but once I got the hang of it I really liked that because it's different.
Anyway good job! Please expand.

Wow...two hours

You work a lot faster than I do. I just finished a demo in two hours...its kinda similar to this style funny enough, maybe a little more IDM though...but enough about me...your song:
I liked the IDM/DnB style drums and the ominous ambient sound was great too. The reverb and damper on the piano really made it sound creepy. I don't know if I would consider this song dance at all...however, it is still a bad ass tune you got here. My only suggestion would have been to make the drums explode when the arping synth lead came into the song, but it's still good the way it is. I could just here a louder more hollow sounding kick and snare over it, but whatev!
Great job!

Yeah i know, i hadn't made a song in a while an lacked inspiration, I just sort of exploded out with inspiration and everything kinda came together quite quickly. Yeah i'm having second thoughts about putting it in dance but w/e. Hmm what do you mean explode? Like a really loud fill or something. or a hit? Or maybe a crash. Yeah. Well thanks for the advice and the 10! :D Peaceout!

HA!!!

I love this! It's bubble gum synthy and its sick. And the addition of the guitar is excellent. This reminds me of the Sims 2 theme song on crack and it's blowing my fucking mind right now! Definitely a really cool song here. As far as the strings go, I like 'em the way they are. They definitely sound like midi strings, but you did a great job with what you had.
Props!

This is probably the best feedback I can imagine, thanks a bunch dude :)

Ok...so

Overall I loved the song. I remember the original. That game had some great songs so it's good to see some people out there remixing them. The mix you did of this was excellent, some might say epic, however, you called it a dance remix and it wasn't really dancy...like at all. I was expecting some big pumping kicks and a lot of generic high hat sounds and in a way I was disappointed, but pleasently surprised as well. Good job!

Thanks for commenting.

You are right, it's not really Dance, but we'd liked this one to keep the original feeling.
Sorry to disappoint you on that side, but glad you still liked it!

Hmmm...

Alrighty, here we go.
There were some very good things about this, but also a lot I didn't like. But I'm a fair reviewer so I'm going to tell you what I think and give you what I believe you deserve for this. First and foremost...I hate midi guitar, and I'm sure you do too. It sounds terrible, and yes I have used it before. You can, however, make the midi guitar sound a little better. For instance, if you are using FL Slayer in FL Studio, use the multiband compressor and add some more middle and low gain to the rhythm guitar, while taking away from the high gain. For the lead, do the opposite. Also, using fast distortion from FL just ever so lightly also helps with the edginess of the guitar. As far as the drums go, they didn't sound very metal...not how they were composed, but the actually sound of the kit wasn't very metal. I've played in many a metal bands and no one's kit has had as a poppy sounding snare as I hear in this. Counter this with some gain variations. While I'm still on the drums, the crash and the ride were very weak. Now...I know you where using a midi kit and guitar so I'm not upset about that fact because you had some very nice compositions here. The good thing about this song is that even though you had to use shitty ass midi and vst stuff, people can hear this and know you aren't bad at composing. For what you had here I'd say you made a valiant attempt and came out with a pretty good product that could use a little tweaking. Anyway, hope some of this helps! Keep up making tunes bro!

I've heard quite a bit about FL studio, i'll have to check it out, hopefully it's compatible with mac. And yeah i hate what Garage band does to the midi sounds. I have to transfer the midi from Guitar Pro because Wave files suck worse than Midi sometimes. As part as the drum sounds go, i had to mess with the eq on each individual part, i mean i split the snare, the hihat, the toms, and the basspedal into separate parts so i could individually to even get the sound i did. For me just starting out this is a fairly difficult process, but i'm working on it. But as i said i'll check out FL studio and probably be posting this again if it sounds better, thank you for your helpful review. =3

lol

Love the fucking title! And great job with the drums. I know you said you wouldn't really keep going on with the IDM influence, but you definitely have something good going on here. I would like to hear more like this.

aloneagainfriend responds:

:P maybe I'll try something....

Ok so here's my take

I definitely agree with argyros that the song builds up pretty epically, however, it didn't go anywhere. It was almost as if the entirety of the song you have here was a long intro for a song. I would suggest shortening this melody to somewhere between 30 and 45 seconds and deviate from this melody and go into something epic. If you are going to keep the melody then you need to make the drums explode. They need to come in so hard and intense that a listener is going to jump back. Like argyros said as well, there is some clipping in there. If you go back to work on this make sure to adjust the gain on your kick and if you are going to take my advice you may want to spend some extra time making sure everything mixes well. But, besides that you have a great melody that has a lot of potential here. I'd like to hear you do something with this...really take it somewhere. Anyway, that's all I got to say.
